I am back again sharing my Christmas card making journey. Once again I am using the Spellbinder’s Limited Edition Santa’s Lane Cardmaking Kit. I have a cute one for you today. With today’s card I added a few little details that I think just brings the card up a notch. Let me know what you think!

First I cut, scored and folded a top-folding A2 Card base. Then, with a patterned paper from the kit, I cut a scalloped panel using the Gina K Design’s Master Layout 4 dies. I also used the stitched rectangle from Master Layouts 2 for the white main panel. I then used the Spellbinder’s Head in the Clouds embossing folder and ran it through my Spellbinder’s Platinum 6 machine. You can’t see the embossing that well in the photo but it really adds texture and dimension to the card panel. Glue the embossed panel to the scalloped panel.

Since hearts aren’t only for Valentine’s Day, I used the stitched heart from the same Gina K Design’s Master Layouts 4 set with the same patterned paper as the scalloped panel. With the border heart die from Master Layouts 4 I cut a black heart from card stock in the kit. Glue your hearts together.

Now for the ephemera, all from the kit! For the sentiment I found this adorable little square that says, “All I want for Christmas is You”. With the same song in my head I threaded some black thread through the die-cut holes, added a clay heart from Kat Scrappiness and a few dots with a black gel pen. I also went around the edges of the sentiment with a black Zig marker.

Next, I glued down my snowmen. I added a few details to the snow men. With a gel pen I gave one of the scares a few polka dots. I used a shimmer pen on the other scarf and added some black gel pen to their buttons and hats. I also glued another heart where their hands meet.

Now add some foam tape to the back of your sentiment and adhere it where you want. Then add a drop of glue to the snowmen’s hands and glue down your strings. Wait for the glue to dry and trim off any excess..

I added foam tape to the back of the heart panel and adhered to the embossed/scalloped panel. I added foam tape to the entire panel and adhered to the card base. This card took about 45 minutes and the toughest part was threading the black thread through the tiny holes…..might have helped if I used a needle 🤣😂.

Let me know what you think about card making kits? Do you have any? Do you love them? They certainly help spark creativity for me and I LOVE playing with this kit. Stay tuned for more kit inspired cards, I still need a lot of holiday cards to mail!
