Why Expressive Paper?

So people are asking, why the name Expressive Paper? There are really a couple of reasons. The first and most important is that paper breeds creativity. There are so many things that can be done with a simple sheet of paper. Think about it…how do most works of art start? We know they start in the artist’s mind. However, until the artist puts a sketch to paper they are forever trapped. Look at the creativity authors bring to the world when the pen hits the paper. While the digital world provides its’ own form of creativity I miss creativity found in a simple piece of paper (or two)…a card.

Paper crafting and making cards has always been a passion and a creative outlet for me. Hopefully, this blog will share my passion with you. Thanks for stopping by and please follow if you enjoy what you see or read.

So why not start with a hello card……

I am a huge fan of Gina K and love her Stamp TV on youtube and Facebook. Last week, she and her lovely daughter did the reverse stencil technique. It involves ink blending on white card stock, allowing the ink to dry and then placing a stencil on top and applying black ink over the card stock. Well, my first attempt was a complete failure as I did the first ink blend over the stencil. It still resulted in what I think is a pretty mistake. The darker card is the actual reverse stencil. The hello sentiment was die cut 3x on my Silhouette Cameo 3 and then embossed with Versafine Embossing Ink and WOW Classic Silver powder. I used the remaining black cardstock for the sentiment on my mistake after trimming it down. Added a few Studio Katia clear drops and sequins. Please let me know what you think!
