A Simple Sympathy Card

I find Sympathy cards the hardest to make. There is usually a lot of emotion involved and I think less is more. For me, the most important thing is the message. However, we want the card to be beautiful as well.

For today’s card, I had the picture of a rose window in my mind. I have been fortunate to see many beautiful windows around the world. So I thought I would create my version of such a window.

This is a top folding A2 card. So cut, score, and fold your card base. Next, grab one of those backgrounds you created after watching a Tim Holtz or Tiffany Solorio video. ( I know you have them!) Then select a solid-colored stock (4.25″ x 5.5″) that goes well with the background you selected.

I used the GKD Master Layout 8 scalloped circle. I cut a piece from black card stock. Then use that beautiful filigree circle die from Master Layout 14 and cut from black card stock. Now find a circle die from your stash that is a bit smaller than that beautiful filigree circle you just cut. Die-cut the background you selected with it. Glue the filigree circle on top. Then adhere it to the solid scallop circle.

I used the new Arches die set directly on my colored card stock. The arch reminded me of those huge cathedral doors I have seen in Europe. I centered the die on the colored card stock and cut it. I wanted some texture in the back so I cut another panel 4.25″ x5.5″ from white card stock and used my Swiss dot embossing folder.

I added foam tape to the back of the yellow, arch panel and put it directly on top of the embossed panel. I then glued this to my card base. Now take that beautiful window you created and add it. I used foam tape.

For my sentiment, I used some rub-ons I had in my stash from Hero Arts. But you select any sentiment you feel appropriate for your message.

That’s it, card is done. I hope you enjoy his card. It was simple to make. Thanks for stopping by and as always, I appreciate it if you use my affiliate links above. Have a great weekend!
