Big Hugs! from Simon Hurley

First, I have to say I am not normally a fan of cute little animal stamps and dies. However, the Big Hugs stamp and die set from Simon Hurley is an exception. The animal images are BIG and adorable. They are great to combine or just use as a focal point. The sentiments included in this kit cover all occasions. They are the type of sentiment that can be used year-round with all your stamps. It is a large set and great for a new card maker looking for an all-round set.

This card was easy to create. I started by stamping the Big Hugs images and sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturn ink. I then heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. Using the coordinating dies I cut them out. I also cut out a few hearts from red glitter paper. This set has a couple different sized hearts that always come in handy for embellishing your cards

The sentiment was stamped on the bottom of a piece of card stock measuring 2″ x 1.5″. I scored at .75″ and folded . I then added some glue inside the fold and added a piece of twine to create a little hanging banner for the panda to hold. That’s about as interactive as I get LOL!

I am creating a top folding A2 card. The black panel measures 4.25″ x 5.5″. It is glued to the card base with liquid glue.

The heart background panel measures 3.75″ x 5″. I created this by embossing a piece of white card stock with the Heart & Soul embossing folder from Spellbinders. It is currently available for $5.99. I then rubbed Distress Oxide Festive Berries over the top of the raised hearts. It looked a little unfinished so I decided to add more ink with my Magic Mushrooms Ink blending tool.

I added the Big Hugs critters with liquid glue to the heart panel. I then added my little sentiment banner with liquid glue as well. I put a little knot at one end and adhered. the other end was wrapped to the back of the panel.

New card tutorial

The entire panel was added to the black panel with foam tape and then it was glued to the white card base. I popped the glitter hearts up with some bits of foam tape. This card involves very little coloring if you don’t like to color. The images are large and easy to color if that’s your jam. The overall versatility of this set is fantastic. It is a great value and I would love for you to check the Big Hugs stamp and die set out using the above affiliate link. I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial and would love some feedback.
