Good Morning, today I am participating in an Instagram Hop that encourages the participants to use what they have in their drawers and cupboards. The theme for this month’s hop is TEACHER APPRECIATION. If you wish to participate you can find more information at the bottom of the post.

For this card I knew I wanted to incorporate a pencil to go with this fabulous sentiment stamp set from Hero Arts. But, believe it or not, I didn’t have a pencil die…..I could buy one. But that would diminish the point of the IG Hop’s premise-use your STASH. So I found some dies that cut strips. I cut a few strips from yellow and black paper scraps and glued them to a slightly smaller strip of copy paper.

Next I cut the top of the strips with a scallop die I had on hand. Then just find the centerpoint and cut up to that point to created the top of the pencil. Add a little black gel pen for the lead.

For the eraser I cut a strip the width of the pencil, rounded the corners and glued it down. I added a small strip of silver, glitter card stock and my pencil is done. What do you think of the pencil?

For the card base I used a stencil from a monthly kit from Hero Arts. I blended Distress Oxide over the stencil. The sentiment stamp is from the Hero Arts. This is a FABULOUS sentiment set for so many occasions. The fonts are thick and bold and I love it, just hadn’t used it. I stamped the sentiments in Versafine Nocturne Clair Ink, added clear embossing powder and heat embossed these. When laying out the sentiment in your MISTI, it helps to place the pencil where you want to adhere it while positioning the stamps.

The pencil was adhered with foam tape. Then the panel was glued to a piece of orange card stock 1/8″ larger on the sides. I used a COncord and 9th die to create the stitched pattern on the card base and then added the main panel with foam. Finally, I added a few clay hearts. Do you have subscriptions to card kits and then never use them? Have you attended a virtual crafting event and not used the stamps or dies you got in the kit? It’s time to stop that, get that stash out and CREATE! I would love to hear what you thinkof this creation in the comments below. Please subscribe to my blog and follow me on social media from the links at the top of this post. I appreciate ALL of you. Have a fabulous, crafty day!
