Simple Card Tutorial with a Lot of Shine!

Hello my crafty friends! I have a card for you with a whole lot of shine. This card is sure to brighten up anyone’s day and its EASY! So let’s get it done!

Products Used

I am using a top folding A2 card base. So let’s cut that and get it out of the way. I also cut a panel of orange card stock to 4″ x 5.25″. I use 110lb Neenah Classic Crest in Solar White. I cut my remaining panels from the other half.

I used the smallest Hand Torn Rectangle die set from LDRS Creative. I cut the embossed panel with the medium die. I then used an old Darice embossing folder and ran it through my Platinum 6. I used some Versamark Ink Refill and brushed it around the edges. Then I sprinkled some Brutus Monroe embossing powder in Gilded and heated it with my WOW heat tool.

On to the ink smushing! I am in awe of the shine of the Brutus Monroe Gilded Aqua Pigment. It is the prettiest water-based pigment I have used. I use it for splatters all of the time. But today I wanted to try some ink smushing. What is ink smushing you ask? Well, there are a lot of YouTube videos on it. Put the ink down on a glass surface, add water, and smush your paper on it. If you want more control you can use clear acetate to pick up the ink and selectively smush it onto your panel. Watercolor paper is probably the best to use but I already had white card stock cut and I am using that!

Once you are done with your smushing, allow your panel to dry. I then used the small Hand Torn Rectangle die and cut the panel. This die set is awesome. The three sizes work well for 5 x 7 cards and A2 perfectly!

Now for the sentiment. I am using the Simply Words die set and Simply Sentiments 4 x 6 stamps from LDRS Creative. This set contains four words and the sentiment stamps contain everything you need to combine for all occasions!

I die-cut the word enjoy, three times, from the middle of the orange card stock we cut earlier. It will be covered up so why waste it? I glued the three together with liquid glue. I stamped the sentiment “relax and” in Raven Hybrid Ink on a piece of white scrap card stock and trimmed it to fit above the first part of enjoy.

To assemble the card I used liquid glue for everything except the main panel with the sentiment. I added foam tape to this panel. I LOVE the simplicity of this card and can’t say enough about that shine. I hope you enjoyed the card and would love to see your creations!
